How we came to be at Buzzards Nest

A dream to connect deeply with the Earth

Through our passion for wildlife, our love of natural  beekeeping and our experiences running a horse drawn veg box scheme we yearned  to connect even deeper with the land. In the summer of 2015 we sold our house in Sussex and moved to Buzzards Nest in Builth Road, Powys, Mid Wales. These 2 acres of land needed a lot of love and hard work, but we were willing to dare to live the life we had always dreamed of. A life inspired by the goodness of this beautiful planet.

The house we bought had been an old victorian railway cottage and originally housed the signalman. Part of our land is home to one of the few remaining railways goods sheds in the area. Over time we are looking to convert this and turn it into a significant community assset. We have built a studio which is used for yoga and groups as well as art and crafts and also community gatherings.

We were lucky to have help at the beginning to put in place a permaculture based plan for the gardens and land right from the beginning, and now we are seeing the fruits of our labour. With the help of many others, our land produces food that we eat throughout the year. We have been able to create an inspiring hub for community, inspiring others through art, and helping others to health through yoga and wellness events. We are looking forward to an exciting future here, expanding in an organic and sustainable way with community and heart felt love of life and this beautiful planet.
